Methods

We started the project by presenting Augusto Boal’s theories and theatre forms to drama students through lectures and workshops involving games and Image Theatre. Examples of this work can be found in the video presentation about Image Theatre. The students learned about the target groups of our projects through conversation, lectures and TV programmes.

The students carried out focused qualitative interviews of informants from the target groups and asked them to describe their experiences of conflicts and oppression. Based on these accounts, the students prepared Forum Theatre performances, which were performed together with Muslim women and immigrant youth, both men and women. The Forum Theatre events were videotaped and edited, and are attached to this handbook.
