Methods

The approach of Augusto Boal in addition to Arno Gruen’s theory published in 2000 in his book Der Fremde in uns (‘the stranger within us’), provided the basis for our work. During a project week organised in November 2005, six workshops under the theme “Dialogue between Cultures” employed different forms of expression, such as theatre, music, dance, painting, photography, writing and sculpting. The biography of the participants of different age and origin was used as topic in the creative and activating cultural production.

In order to support the dialogue between the participants, the project week was divided into work carried out with the entire group and work carried out in workshops. This created an inspiring atmosphere of cultural exchange.

To document our project, we employed digital photography as well as videotaping. We also created a video lecture based on the collected raw material.
